The King of the United Kingdom will have to take a break from his cancer treatment to go on a tour of Australia and Samoa, according to reports. Charles and his wife, Queen Camilla, will travel from October 18 to 26.
Pause in cancer treatment
The 75-year-old monarch and Camilla will be carrying out their engagements together in Australia before heading to Samoa for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
Upon returning to the United Kingdom, Her Majesty will continue with the current treatment and her doctors have authorized this pause in order to carry out her high-profile trip, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The King was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in February, after receiving treatment for an enlarged prostate.
They guarantee health for the king.
A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace previously said: "We have had to think, as we would with any visit, about how we can ensure that Her Majesty's energies are preserved so that they are at their best."
He added: "At the beginning of the year, there were some hopes that Their Majesties could visit New Zealand. On medical advice and in close consultation with the governments of Australia and New Zealand, that could not be carried out. We have had to make some difficult decisions about the program with the Australian government, about the places Their Majesties can reach."
Travel as a couple
The royal couple will have standout moments together, as they will be in Canberra to meet important figures and in western Sydney they will attend a community barbecue, a staple of Australian culture.
While in Samoa, the program will follow a similar theme to that of Australia: the king with events focused on sustainability and biodiversity, and the queen will be engaged in her interests in literacy, domestic violence, and sexual abuse.
