Arnold Schwarzenegger returns to the big screen in a Christmas adventure alongside Alan Ritchson, known for his role in Reacher. The new movie titled The Man With the Bag, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, promises an exciting twist on the genre of Christmas action comedy.
In a first glance shared on social media, Schwarzenegger appears wearing a red coat, white hair, and the classic Santa Claus beard, while Ritchson looks ready for action.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is happy to return to the cinema with this project.
The plot centers on Santa Claus, who teams up with a reformed thief, Vance, played by Ritchson, to recover his magical bag, stolen in a bold heist. Together, accompanied by a group of misfit elves and Vance's daughter, they must carry out the biggest heist of their lives to save Christmas.
This project, directed by Adam Shankman (Hairspray, Rock of Ages), marks Schwarzenegger's return to the big screen after five years. Although he is no stranger to the Christmas genre, his last foray was in 1996 with Jingle All the Way. That comedy, in which he played a father desperate to get the most popular toy of the season, became a box office hit, grossing $129.8 million worldwide.
Schwarzenegger expressed his enthusiasm on Instagram: "Santa Claus is coming to town! It's fantastic to be filming The Man with the Bag with Alan Ritchson. Working with Adam Shankman and Amazon MGM Studios has been a pleasure, and I can't wait to share this Christmas joy with all of you."
For Ritchson, the film is an opportunity to return to the cinema after his participation in Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. The chemistry between both actors and Shankman’s direction promise a unique blend of action, humor, and Christmas spirit.
