During the weekend, the American program Saturday Night Live (SNL) paid a humorous tribute to the well-remembered Chilean show “Sábado Gigante,” through a sketch aired close to midnight on October 5th on NBC.
In this scenario, it was the comedian of Cuban-Dominican origin, Marcello Hernández, who was in charge of bringing the iconic Don Francisco to life, recalling classic moments from the legendary television show.
In the montage, they took advantage of recreating several segments of the show, including dynamics with the audience with prizes, jokes, and also highlighted the unusual hats that Don Francisco used to wear at that time, details that were part of the essence of the show.
Similarly, iconic characters such as the "Chacal de la Trompeta" and the famous "León" appeared, the latter would "eat" the participants who did not have talent.

This moment generated a wave of reactions on social media, including that of Mario Kreutzberger, who felt flattered because they brought back memories of the great moments from the show he led for decades: "I want to thank SNL and Marcello Hernández for bringing back those very special moments from our beloved Sábado Gigante."
Similarly, Don Francisco emphasized that the remembered show had an impact on both Chilean and Latin American families.
"It was not just a great TV show, it was much more: a meeting point for families and for our Hispanic community. Thank you so much!", concluded the renowned Chilean host through his Instagram account.
