Why was Aleska Génesis accused of theft in Mexico?
Aleska Génesis was arrested upon leaving “The House of the Famous All Stars” after being accused of theft.
The model was transferred to a women’s prison, however, it didn’t take long for her to be released, despite being linked to a legal process.
The model continued her legal battle outside of prison and couldn’t leave Mexico until she was granted legal forgiveness.
It was in this way that she spoke about her happiness on social media after being cleared of charges: “This gentleman granted a pardon where the case was closed and all charges were officially dropped, so I can tell you that I am free. I am very happy because today I received my passport, I can see my family again, my siblings, my people, I can go home.” She also added, “That made me very sad, because I thought it would take even longer. This month felt eternal to me, because on top of that I was hiding, I was locked up, I was afraid.”
“Once again, I have always proven that I am innocent, I never committed a crime here in Mexico, I was even accused in Mexico of robbery on a day when I was not in the country. That was after that robbery happened, I always had the evidence in my favor. I was always willing to appear before the law. Today that pardon was granted and everything was dropped," she concluded.
Why was Aleska Génesis detained in Miami?
The Venezuelan model decided to return to her home in the United States, however, she was arrested at Miami Airport, where she was detained in an immigration room, as the authorities of the country classified her as “someone suspicious”.
Sandra Hoyos, a lawyer contacted by the program “En Casa con Telemundo,” clarified that “when authorities at an airport suspect that a person may have some connection to a crime, some type of suspicious behavior, they have the right to detain the person."
However, the detention did not last long and finally Aleska was able to return home to her family.
“I can’t believe I’m already stepping foot in Miami, that I’m here inside the United States, and that soon I’ll see my family, my dogs, my people. I really feel like it’s been a journey, a whole month where I experienced a lot of anguish,” said the model to Telemundo.
