BOCA RATÓN, Florida (AP) — A small plane crashed Friday morning in South Florida near a major interstate highway and railroad tracks, police reported.

The three occupants of the aircraft died, said ABC News citing local officials and the FAA. The occupant of a vehicle hit by the plane sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to officials.

The Boca Raton Police reported on social media that several roads near the Boca Raton Airport were closed near Interstate 95 after a small plane crashed shortly after 10 a.m. Local media reported that the plane was on fire and firefighters were responding.
The firefighters informed the South Florida Sun Sentinel that the aircraft appeared to have pushed a car onto the railroad tracks, causing them to be closed. The fate of the car’s occupants is also unknown.
The mayor of Boca Raton, Scott Singer, said that the investigation was just beginning.
“We are deeply saddened to confirm that an airplane accident occurred early today in our community. At this time, details are still emerging and we are working closely with emergency services and authorities,” Singer stated in a statement. We extend our heartfelt condolences to all those affected by this tragic event. We ask for patience and respect for the families involved as investigations continue."
