Marvel fans have experienced a lot of excitement in the last few hours, after the studio announced one by one the names of the cast that will make up the anticipated Avengers: Doomsday. But, in the midst of the commotion, jokes also reigned and one of them featured the controversial Karla Sofía Gascón.
Through its official channels, Marvel Entertainment shared a video revealing one by one the names of the cast of the feature film starring Robert Downey Jr., who will be returning to the franchise but this time in the role of the titular villain, Dr. Doom.
It was then that, as anticipation grew among fans about which names would be revealed, someone made a meme with the name Karla Sofía Gascón written on one of the cast chairs and the image quickly went viral, leading some users to even think it was a real announcement.
What did Karla Sofía Gascón respond to the jokes about her appearance in Avengers: Doomsday?
Gascón, who is no stranger to social media, shared in her Instagram stories a screenshot with one of the many headlines, where media outlets refer to rumors of her integration into the MCU, along with the following message: "Don’t rule it out, who knows if Marvel will have, someday, the best possible superheroine or villain in its ranks."
The actress has already returned to Spain after the media storm she was involved in earlier this year, when several offensive and Islamophobic tweets made by her in the past in X came to light, even leading her to delete her account.
These rumors linking Karla Sofía Gascón to a Hollywood blockbuster curiously arise when the actress once again faces cancel culture, following another controversial statement.
During the closing of the Málaga Film Festival, where he took the stage to present an award, Gascón had a brief encounter with the press. He spoke about the possibility of moving to the city in search of the peace he doesn’t find in other Spanish cities.
When remembering episodes of paparazzi harassment in recent months, Gascón recalled some photographs that, in her opinion, were not favorable. Although the journalist mentioned that she looked good, the actress said, "I looked like a homeless person, seriously."
Her statement did not go unnoticed by hundreds of thousands of X users who still have fresh memories of controversial tweets against minorities and vulnerable individuals. “This lady doesn’t learn,” several wrote.
