After sharing an unexpected kiss, the episode of March 23, titled “Denials,” took things even further with a scene full of tension and complexity between the siblings. What initially seemed like blurry memories of Lochlan and Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon) having sex beside him, soon turns into something more disturbing when Chloe assures him: “I didn’t force him to masturbate you.” Although Saxon tries to deny the incident, Lochlan confirms what happened during a meditation in a Buddhist monastery.

Patrick Schwarzenegger’s reaction to this controversial scene was not long in coming. The actor shared a carousel of images from the episode on his Instagram account, showing his character visibly affected and nauseous the morning after. With irony, he titled the post: “A picture is worth a thousand words.”

The official account of the series wasted no time in commenting: “Some memories that you will carry long after you leave,” further stirring up the social media frenzy. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Schwarzenegger confessed that he was unaware of the magnitude of what his character entailed when he accepted the role.

“The White Lotus” continues to generate buzz week after week

“We didn’t have the full script and we didn’t really know what we were getting into,” Patrick admitted. However, he assured that he had full confidence in Mike White, the creator of the series, and in his narrative vision. “I remember he sent me a message saying, ‘It’s going to be great.’ And that it’s going to start a conversation,” the actor commented.

On the other hand, Sam Nivola also offered his interpretation of the controversial moment, highlighting Lochlan’s emotional complexity and his desire to connect with his older brother. “It’s not something sexual, it’s more of a desperate search for approval,” explained the young actor.
