The dream job? Space agency pays over 4 thousand dollars to volunteers who want to be lying down

The offer is not deceptive, but lying in bed for 10 days is not an easy task.

Dormir bien es fundamental para mantener una buena salud física y mental, y la firmeza del colchón juega un papel crucial.
According to international media, what the ESA is looking for is to experiment with the benefits of water beds.

The dream job appeared in one of the most renowned scientific organizations in the old continent. The European Space Agency (ESA for its acronym in English) is looking for volunteers to work with them, at least for 10 days. They pay 4,100 euros and all you have to do is lay down.

The offer is not deceptive, but lying in bed for 10 days is not an easy task. That is why the compensation is substantial for those who dare to undertake this challenge.

According to international media, what the ESA is looking for is to experiment with the benefits of water beds, in which the user practices the dry immersion technique. The idea is to test these machines on prolonged manned space flights.

The space agency called this experiment Vivaldi III. The Daily Mail reports that the tests are being conducted at the Medes Space Clinic at the University Hospital of Toulouse, in France.

“During Vivaldi III, 10 volunteers lie in containers similar to bathtubs, covered with a waterproof fabric. This keeps them dry and evenly suspended in the water,” said the ESA in a statement.

They add that they must be “submerged up to above the torso and keeping their arms and head out of the water. Participants experience a sensation of floating without physical support, similar to what astronauts feel on the International Space Station."

They must remain lying down all the time, as the space agency wants to know the effects that being subjected to this environment has on the body.

“To go to the bathroom, participants are temporarily transferred to a stretcher, maintaining a relaxed position at all times,” added the ESA.

It’s not an easy thing: “During the 10 days, the volunteers remain in this position inside the containers filled with water,” said the ESA regarding this complex experiment.
