The renowned presenter Wendy Williams, 60, returned to the care center where she was staying in New York after being taken out with a police intervention following her request for help last Monday.

The writer also dropped a paper with a written call for help out of the window, so that day, she was taken out for new psychological tests, as she is not satisfied with the studies they are conducting on her. She has reported feeling “like in a prison” at that place. In this center, she does not have a phone or internet, and visits are very restricted.

As you may recall, the host has been under a guardianship since May 2022 due to a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia and aphasia. Sabrina Morrissey was appointed as her guardian, in charge of her finances and health.

After the police removed her from the assistance center, they conducted psychological tests on her, and she claimed to have passed them “successfully”.

Despite Wendy Williams claiming to be mentally and physically fit, she was returned to the care center, as the results of the new studies need to be reviewed by a court, which will decide if she can stay at the facility under guardianship.

The New York Post and Page Six showed photos of Williams back at the facility, wearing an elegant Versace robe. “She is in great mental and physical shape. Let her out!” her brother Tommy Williams pleaded on Wednesday, as reported by The Post.

“Now she has some direction and understanding of her functional skills and conscious abilities... It’s a victory for Wendy, and she did it herself, it also shows that she is fluent with her thoughts and actions,” her brother told US Weekly.

According to TMZ, in the new tests, Wendy scored 10 out of 10, thus demonstrating that she is a competent person.

Ginalia Monterrosa, a friend of the presenter, stated, “She is letting the public know that it is unfair, it is unjust,” Monterrosa explained. "She does not need to be under a conservatorship. She is not incapacitated. She will continue to express her opinion."

Wendy Williams' guardian explained why she should remain under guardianship

Page Six recalled Sabrina Morrissey’s explanation of why Wendy Williams should remain under guardianship. The lawyer was appointed by a court to be the legal guardian of the host, overseeing her finances and health.

In November 2024, a lawyer for Morrissey wrote a memorandum to a judge stating that Williams was “cognitively disabled and permanently incapacitated.”

“Wendy Williams, an acclaimed artist who tragically has been affected by early-onset dementia and, as a result, has deteriorated cognitively and become permanently incapacitated.”
