The former First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, has shared an anecdote about her husband, former President Barack Obama, which has been a challenge in their marriage over the years.
In the inaugural episode of her podcast IMO, Michelle confessed that she had to get used to Barack’s lack of punctuality over time.
Michelle Obama does not like tardiness.
During the conversation with her brother, Craig Robinson, the former first lady recounted how her husband, due to his Hawaiian roots, had a much more relaxed perception of time. “Barack used to move at a leisurely pace when it was time to leave. For him, ‘being ready by 3’ meant starting to look for his things at that time,” she said with a laugh.
Although she found it frustrating at first, Michelle acknowledged that her husband has improved over the years. “After three decades of marriage, he has learned to adapt and be more aware of time,” she noted.
He also pointed out that his daughters, Malia and Sasha, have adopted his sense of punctuality and always make sure to be ready before the agreed time.
Crisis in the Obama marriage?
These statements arise amidst speculations about the current state of the relationship between the Obamas. In recent months, some media outlets have reported that Michelle has distanced herself from political life and has spent less time in Washington D.C.
Furthermore, the absence of the former first lady at key events has fueled rumors of possible tensions in the couple.
Despite these speculations, Michelle and Barack have demonstrated on several occasions that their bond remains strong. The statements made by the former first lady about the evolution of their marriage reflect the commitment and mutual adaptation they have built over the years.
