How do I shoot the dog against its owner in Tennessee?
The man was identified as Jerald Kirkwood, who informed local police that the incident occurred while he and a woman were lying on the bed with a gun nearby. At that moment, his one-year-old pitbull named ‘Oreo’ jumped onto the bed, accidentally causing the gun to go off.
“The dog’s paw came into contact with the trigger guard, causing the gun to fire,” local authorities reported.
According to the local television station WREG, the bullet superficially hit Kirkwood on the top of his left thigh. Although he required medical attention, the injuries were not serious and he is out of danger.
A woman who was with Kirkwood later recounted how the events unfolded: "Oreo is a very playful dog, he likes to jump and things like that, and he went off‚" she said. She also explained that she left the house carrying the gun while Kirkwood was being taken to a nearby hospital. When asked about what exactly woke her up, whether it was the dog’s jump or the gunshot, the woman stated: “The gunshot. Yes, a combination of the two.”
After the incident, both Kirkwood and the woman involved, whose name was not revealed to the press, stated that they would take measures to ensure the safety in the handling and storage of firearms in the future. "Keep them secure or use trigger locks," added the woman.
Local authorities classified the incident as an accidental injury, so no action was taken against the dog owner or against Oreo.
