Shakira’s Lamborghini, won by a Colombian artist, crashed in Miami

Details below:

Michael Mejía, a Colombian artist who won a 2022 Lamborghini Urus in a draw organized by Shakira, was involved in a car accident in Miami on March 6.

“I wasn’t the one who crashed it, I was simply hit,” he recounted in an interview, stating that he was struck while crossing a street.

The car, which was used to film the music video for the song ‘Soltera’, suffered damage to both driver-side doors. However, it has already been repaired with the help of insurance.

What problems has the Lamborghini that Shakira gifted had?

In a conversation with Publimetro Colombia, Mejía had previously mentioned that he intended to sell or auction the car due to the high costs associated with owning a luxury vehicle.

“She provided me with $90,000 to cover the costs of taxes, legal procedures, flights to get here, vehicle maintenance, and insurance. However, it was not enough for everything, as the current expense amounts to $95,000, which includes the insurance payment for six months,” the young man commented and then added, “afterwards, I will have to continue paying $2,500 monthly for insurance, in addition to gasoline and car wash costs.”

“It is quite expensive, basically a middle-class person has acquired a car that only millionaires can own. It is quite ironic because even having $90,000 dollars, which is a considerable amount of money, was not enough (...) Although I would like to keep this car forever, as the most valuable thing I own in my life, I will have to auction it or sell it,” he added.

The price of the 2022 Lamborghini Urus is $280,000. The young man has owned this vehicle for three months.

Mejía won the luxury car in a contest organized by the singer from Barranquilla, in which participants had to send a creative video with the best dance moves to the song “Soltera”.
