Known as the biggest icon of Marvel, being the mind behind its most famous characters such as Spider-Man or Hulk, Stan Lee was one of the most beloved personalities in the entertainment industry and the ‘geek’ world. However, a dark story was hidden behind his final years.
Jonathan T. Bolerjack is assuming the role of filmmaker on this occasion to develop a documentary revealing the series of abuses that Lee experienced in the twilight of his life, titled ‘Stan Lee: The Final Chapter’.
What does the new documentary reveal about Stan Lee?
According to Jon Bolerjack, who was said to have been Lee’s assistant in his final years, the genius of the House of Ideas was mistreated, manipulated, and deceived by the team behind him.
Bolerjack himself explains in a preview of his documentary that, in addition to being Lee’s personal assistant, he considered himself his friend.
Bolerjack, who accompanied Stan Lee to countless events as an assistant, as well as during his treatment and activities with Marvel Studios, the only thing he could do during the creator of countless superheroes' last years of life was to take a camera and record what he saw. He even claims that there is nothing biased in the footage, just facts and statements from other artists.
In the preview shown of Stan Lee: The Final Chapter, specific names of those responsible for this abuse are not given, but throughout the footage you can see the type of treatment that Max Anderson, his former tour manager, gave to the comic book Legend.
The Bolerjack documentary has been filmed but has not been finished. In fact, it is requesting $300,000 on Kickstarter to complete the editing and post-production. Although there is no set release date, the deadline to contribute to the funding of Stan Lee: The Final Chapter is next Friday, April 11th.
