Tiger Woods reveals he tore his Achilles tendon and will likely miss the Masters

He said he underwent a less invasive surgery.

Tiger Woods announced on Tuesday that he underwent a less invasive surgery for a ruptured Achilles tendon, another injury that seems likely to keep him out of the Masters and perhaps other majors this year.

Woods revealed the injury on his social media accounts without detailing how long he expected to be out.

“When I began to intensify my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles tendon, which was considered torn,” said Woods.

He commented that he underwent a minimally invasive repair of the Achilles tendon for a torn tendon, which, according to the doctor, went well.

This type of surgery involves smaller incisions, and the recovery time is faster. However, most recoveries take a month before someone can even put weight on their foot.

Woods indicated that he would focus on rehabilitation and recovery.

The Masters will take place between April 10th and 13th.

Woods set the Masters record last year by making the cut for the 24th consecutive time.

But he hasn’t competed outside of his indoor league—except for 18 holes at the Seminole Pro-Member last week—since he failed to make the cut at the British Open last summer.
