Why did the reality star of ‘Love is Blind’ cause controversy?

Standing in front of the altar, Carlton told Mezzenga: "I love you, but I have always wanted to have a partner who is on the same page as me." Although she told Ben that she loved him and thought he was amazing, the woman left the venue amidst the gazes and shock of all the attendees and viewers at home.

Once inside the car that would take her away from that place, Sara admitted that it had been Ben’s opinions - or rather, the lack thereof - on topics that were important to her, that had led her to reconsider marrying him.

In previous episodes, the woman had asked Mezzenga what he thought about Donald Trump, the Black Lives Matter movement, or sexuality, and the vague answers she had received seemed to make it clear that they did not share the same opinions on these issues. According to Marie Claire, Ben grew up in a Christian home and attends church every Sunday.

In addition to this, Mezzenga also does not seem to have much of an opinion on vaccination, something that is extremely important to Carlton as she is a nurse and vaccines are a highly debated topic within the healthcare community.

On social media, the event in the famous reality show sparked a debate about whether what Sara had done was right or if it had been a case of ‘woke’ activism that had exaggerated the situation.
