Hours after a series of outages on Monday that left the social network X (formerly Twitter) inaccessible for thousands of users, Elon Musk claimed that the platform was undergoing a “massive cyberattack.”

Complaints about outages increased on Monday at 6 a.m. Eastern time, and again at 10 a.m., with over 40,000 users reporting they did not have access to the platform, according to the tracking website Downdetector.com.
A sustained interruption lasting at least an hour began at noon, and the most severe interruptions occurred along the coasts of the U.S.
Downdetector.com said that 56% of the issues were reported for the X application, while 33% were reported for the website.
In March 2023, the social media platform then known as Twitter experienced a series of outages for over an hour: links stopped working, some users couldn’t log in, and images wouldn’t load for others.
