Texas and Louisiana are the states with the most immigrants detained by ICE

Eight of the Texan centers are among the top 20 with the most undocumented immigrants apprehended in the United States

The Transaction Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) in the United States reported that Texas and Louisiana are the states with the highest number of detained illegal immigrants during Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE operations.

The study of the organization indicated that the figures are based on data updated until January 6, 2025, with a trend towards the location of migrants apprehended in President Donald Trump’s mass deportation plan, as reported by La Nación.

TRAC indicated that so far, 41,169 undocumented individuals have been detained throughout the United States, and of these, 55% have no criminal records, while others have minor offenses such as traffic violations.

It was reported that Texas ranks first in detentions, with 6,461 undocumented individuals in ICE custody. In this region, eight of the centers are among the top 20 with the most detainees. Louisiana holds the second place with 4,435 detainees, and Mississippi is in third place with 2,135.

The three centers with the most detainees in Texas are: South Texas ICE Processing Center (Pearsall, Texas), with 1680 people; Montgomery ICE Processing Center (Conroe, Texas), 1236 people; and Karnes County Immigration Processing Center (Karnes City, Texas), with 1124 people.

In Louisiana, there is Winn Correctional Center (Winnfield, Louisiana) with 1474 individuals and Central Louisiana ICE Processing Center (Jena, Louisiana) with 1176 detainees; while in Mississippi, there is Adams County Detention Center (Natchez, Mississippi) with 2154 individuals.

States with the highest number of immigrants detained by ICE

The aforementioned source indicated that following Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi are:

-Georgia: 1514 detainees.

-California: 1377 detainees.

-Arizona: 1312 detainees.

-Pennsylvania: 1173 detainees.

-Colorado: 1164 detainees.

-New Mexico: 808 detainees.

A report from Witness at the Border revealed that the main countries where the United States deports individuals are Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. They are followed by Mexico, Colombia, and Ecuador. Lastly, African nations such as Mauritania, Kenya, Cameroon, and also India.

During the last 12 months, Guatemala has received 452 flights with deportees out of a total of 1532 flights that have been made, meaning this country has received 29.5% of the deported immigrants.
