Hours before the event, the news broke of the unexpected passing of Jesús Guerrero, stylist and close friend of Kylie, at the age of 34. Jesús’s sister, Gris, announced his death in a heartbreaking manner, describing the loss as “súbita e inesperada,” though without revealing the cause.

Under normal circumstances, Kylie would have accompanied Timothée to the ceremony, as she did at the Golden Globes and the Berlinale, where she avoided posing with him on the red carpet but joined him inside the event.
However, the sadness over the loss of his friend led him to choose to stay away from the SAG Awards. In Kylie’s absence, Timothée’s mother, Nicole Flender, took her place as his companion.
Nicole, a former Broadway dancer who now works in real estate in New York, sat next to her son at the Shrine Auditorium, providing him support on a momentous night for him.
During the ceremony, Chalamet was tasked with presenting his biopic “A Complete Unknown” about Bob Dylan, alongside his co-stars Monica Barbaro, Elle Fanning, and Edward Norton. However, a small mistake in his speech led him to joke in a self-critical manner, admitting that he “debería haber ensayado.”
But the big surprise of the night came when Timothée Chalamet took home the award for Best Actor in a Movie, in an unexpected result that left him visibly moved. Upon receiving the award, the first thing he did was hug his mother before stepping onto the stage.
“I wasn’t expecting this at all, truly,” he said in his acceptance speech. “I want to start by thanking my mother, who is here with me tonight. She has worked for 40 years at ActorsEquity, the theater union.”
Timothée also emphasized the effort involved in his portrayal of Dylan: “Lo más elegante sería minimizar el esfuerzo que puse en este papel, pero la verdad es que fueron cinco años y medio de mi vida.”
While Chalamet celebrated his triumph, Kylie Jenner remained in private, processing the loss of her dear friend and stylist. Her absence reflected the deep sadness she is going through, making it clear that there are moments when fame and fashion take a backseat to personal grief.
