This is how Luigi Mangione’s followers showed their support as he prepares for his hearing.

Although in recent weeks it seemed to have been forgotten, local followers of Mangione unfurled a huge poster on a building in New York. In the mural, the young man appears like a religious figure, and in large yellow letters it reads, “liberen a Luigi”.

Mangione, accused of murder, will appear in court in New York this Friday, after his trial had been postponed several times at the request of the prosecution and the defense. The hearing is scheduled to begin at 14:15, local time (19:15 GMT).

According to Europa Press agency, the accused faces serious federal charges for murder with a firearm, use of weapons, and harassment for shooting Brian Thompson dead on the street in the Big Apple. Mangione was arrested in Pennsylvania after a six-day flight from the December 4 incident. In addition to the federal charges, Mangione also faces state-level accusations in New York and Pennsylvania.

His team is composed of four lawyers, and according to his recently launched website, Luigi feels very grateful towards those who have shared their support; support that even helped him raise about 300,000 dollars in donations for his defense.
