Donald Trump will make history this Sunday in New Orleans by becoming the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl, amid heightened security measures for a city that was recently shaken by a terrorist attack in its famous French Quarter and for an event filled with celebrities, such as Taylor Swift.

Trump’s trip to see the showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs was confirmed to AP on Tuesday by a White House official who spoke on the condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to speak publicly about the president’s plans.

Trump will do the traditional interview of presidents

The President of the United States is also scheduled to do an interview with Bret Baier of Fox News as part of the pre-game programming, which is set to be recorded from Florida before the game.

Traditionally, presidents grant an interview to the TV network broadcasting the game, although both Trump and his predecessor, Joe Biden, were inconsistent in participating in previous years.

Trump is a big fan of American football and in early December he attended the traditional game between Army vs Navy in Philadelphia, part of the college football season schedule.

What team is Donald Trump a fan of?

Trump has never said it, but he has always been linked to the New England Patriots, especially because of his great friendship with former coach Bill Belichick and former quarterback Tom Brady.

Anyway, when the Chiefs were crowned champions of the American Conference and secured their tickets to the Super Bowl, Trump congratulated them on their social media platform: "What a great team, coach, quarterback, and pretty much everything else, including those fantastic supporters who voted for me (MAGA!) in record numbers. Also, congratulations to the Buffalo Bills for a tremendous season. They will continue to win a lot in the future!"

Trump received the support of Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Patrick, during the recent presidential campaign. However, Taylor Swift, the partner of tight end Travis Kelce, publicly supported Democrat Kamala Harris.
