Cell phones are going to disappear: Sam Altman confirms it with the plans of the device he is working on at OpenAI

The mysterious device will replace cell phones as we know them. Artificial intelligence and Open AI aim to revolutionize the digital world.

For the past couple of years, various representatives from the world of technology have been warning that cell phones, as we know them, are going to disappear. The digital business seems to be heading towards devices that are really small, which help us project images and establish communications through different systems than conventional ones.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, confirms this by sharing the plans of his company, about a mysterious device they are working on. The entrepreneur, the face of ChatGPT, did not specifically disclose what this device is, but he did mention in an interview that a new device is being manufactured in which his company is collaborating to produce the semiconductors, as reported by Hipertextual.

The replacement of the cellphone, as we know it, is not a new topic in the technology industry. Approximately five months ago, Jony Ive, iconic designer of Apple, revealed that he is working on a device for OpenAI, as reported by the aforementioned media.

Devices that want to replace the cellphone

Some devices that aim to replace cell phones are already on the market. One of them is the famous Humane Ai Pin, which as its name suggests, is a pin that can be put in any pocket and transmit its visual information to any surface, like the hand, as shown in the image we share below.

The company developing them, endorsed by Open AI by Sam Altman, reports on its website that the three versions they have available for the public are now ready to order.

It's not a cell phone per se, but it is a portable and intelligent device that is based on clothing. Therefore, in order to function, it uses a range of sensors that allow for natural and intuitive computer interactions for whoever is wearing it.

It does not need to be paired with a smartphone or other complementary device, it includes AI-powered optical recognition and a laser-projected display, all powered by an advanced Snapdragon platform from Qualcomm Technologies.

“The device prioritizes privacy, with aspects such as the absence of a wake word and, therefore, the absence of ‘always-on’ listening, reflecting Humane’s vision of creating products that put trust at the center,” the company said in a statement.
