Disney continues to bet on innovation in its theme parks, and this time the magic will be transferred to Disney’s Hollywood Studios with the arrival of a new land inspired by the successful movie Monsters, Inc.. The announcement was made during the D23 Expo 2024, where details about this highly anticipated project were revealed. This new area will replace the current Muppets Courtyard zone and construction is expected to start in 2025, allowing visitors to enjoy a completely new experience in the park.
Although many details are still to be confirmed, Disney has advanced that this new land promises to be an innovative space full of emotions for movie fans. Among the highlighted novelties is the inclusion of a suspended roller coaster, an attraction that promises to take visitors through an immersive experience in the world of monsters.
New and unique attractions and shows
One of the biggest surprises will be the arrival of a suspended roller coaster, the first of its kind in Disney parks. This attraction will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the iconic factory of Monsters, Inc., passing through the famous doors that connect the human world with that of monsters. The roller coaster's design aims to capture the essence of the most thrilling scenes from the movie, using cutting-edge technology to offer an experience never before seen in other Disney parks.
In addition, the theater currently housing MuppetVision 3D will be transformed to accommodate a new show, although details about its content remain a mystery at the moment. However, based on the conceptual art shown by Disney, it is speculated that the popular interactive show Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, currently located in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom, could be moved to this new space. This addition would solidify the new land as a true entertainment hub dedicated exclusively to the Monsters, Inc. franchise.
Themed restaurants and stores
To complete the experience, Monsters, Inc. Land will feature gastronomic options and themed shops that will further immerse visitors in the monster universe. One of the standout proposals is the possible inclusion of the restaurant Harry Hausen’s, the famous sushi establishment from the movie. Although there is no official confirmation yet, the conceptual art suggests that this will be one of the main food options within the new land.
On the other hand, the area could also undergo changes in terms of restaurant offerings, such as the case of PizzeRizzo and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, which could be renovated with a Monsters, Inc. theme or replaced by new dining options. As for the shops, it is speculated that the Stage 1 Company Store, currently in the area, will be repurposed to offer exclusive merchandise related to the movie characters, becoming an ideal place for fans who want to take home a souvenir from their visit to the new Monsters, Inc. world.
