If you want to travel to New Orleans to watch the Super Bowl LIX between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs, there is good news and bad news. The good news is that prices to get a ticket at the Superdome are cheaper than last year’s final. The bad news is that prices are still excessively high in the secondary or resale market.

This Wednesday morning, tickets could be found for $4,900 on Ticketmaster, the official NFL exchange website, and for $3,900 on StubHub, one of the most popular resale sites in the United States. That's 36% cheaper than the Super Bowl in Las Vegas in 2024 at the same date.

Why are Super Bowl tickets so expensive?
The cheapest price for an official ticket to the Eagles vs. Chiefs game is $950, but those prices are never available to the general public.
The NFL allocates 75% of Super Bowl tickets to all teams in the league, with a higher percentage going to the club of the host city and the Super Bowl participants. They distribute or sell them to season ticket holders. The remaining 25% is reserved for the league itself, which typically distributes them among sponsors.
That is why the general public can only get tickets through resale.
Tickets can also be obtained through On Location, but they are more expensive because they include an open bar and a party. For Super Bowl LIX, the lowest price is $6,700.
When is the right time to buy?
The trend is for Super Bowl resale prices to start dropping after the conference finals Sunday. Therefore, it is expected that prices will drop even further for the New Orleans final.
Last year, in Las Vegas, prices were high since it was the first time a game was played in one of the most touristy and visited cities in the United States. The average price of the tickets traded there was $9,136.
“Las Vegas is a very accessible city nationwide, regardless of what your fan base is,” Adam Budelli, spokesperson for StubHub, commented to USA Today.
