Man confesses on Facebook to having murdered his wife and then commits suicide

According to the North Carolina Police Department, the crime occurred on the night of January 18th at the couple's home in Fuquay-Varina.

Sometimes it is not necessary to access the ‘deep web’ to find truly macabre stories. On the famous social network Facebook, a man confessed to having killed his wife and then took his own life.

According to the North Carolina Police Department, the crime occurred on the night of January 18th, at the couple's home in Fuquay-Varina. The subject was identified as George Lesniak, 63 years old, and his victim was Cathleen Lesniak, 59 years old, with whom George had been married for over 34 years.

What did the police say about the case?

“My wife admitted to cheating on me so I killed, I’m about to kill myself,” confessed Lesniak on the platform created by Mark Zuckerberg.

According to the Police Department, when the agents arrived at the couple's house, they found Lesniak dead from a self-inflicted injury. The man, who was the administrator of the Facebook group focused on ADAS calibrations, mentioned that the members should handle the future of the group.

The message was posted on Facebook at 6:00 in the evening, moments before the Police received a call to the residence. The authorities expressed their solidarity with Lesniak’s family and asked the community to offer their support during this difficult time.

So far, the media reports that the exact cause of death has not been confirmed as a murder-suicide. Cathleen Lesniak had worked at Advanced Auto Parts as a technical production manager, according to her Facebook account which has now been set to private, as reported by News & Observer.

On the other hand, George Lesniak, originally from Illinois, had been the vice president of training at Autel Automotive Intelligence before leaving in September 2024, according to his LinkedIn profile. Autel Automotive issued a brief statement expressing their regret for the tragic events involving the Lesniak family: "We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred at the Lesniak residence on January 18. Autel expresses our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Lesniak," the company wrote on Sunday.
