Technology and digital platforms have completely transformed human life, and, as we well know, sometimes they show us a dark side of what we thought was safe and private. Technologies not only help in our daily routine, but they can even help uncover infidelity through Spotify, as psychologist Claudia Nicolasa mentioned in her podcast.
The specialist recounted the case experienced by one of her patients, although she did not reveal the person's identity. She explained that the young woman, like many couples, shared a Spotify account with her boyfriend. However, unlike other more traditional applications, the music on this platform can only be listened to by one person at a time on an individual account.
Everything seemed normal until one night, her boyfriend told her he couldn't stay with her because he had to work. The young woman decided to listen to some relaxing music. What she didn't expect was that, upon logging into her account, the app started playing party music. This small detail set off alarm bells in her mind: Why would someone who had to work be listening to party music at that hour? Like in a digital thriller, her intuition led her to investigate.
Instead of settling for the first suspicion, the young woman began to do what many would consider a detective-worthy exercise: she investigated the posts of a girl who followed a friend of her partner. It was there where she found the definitive proof: several Instagram stories showed a party at her boyfriend's house, with him accompanied by another woman.
Spotify and psychological demonstration
Psychologist Claudia Nicolasa commented on her podcast how this type of discoveries can be the result of a motivated mind: "When you want to find something, your mind is like boom, boom, boom. You are looking for the connections in the information and you get to where you need to go," she said.
This case highlights how digital platforms, which used to only seem to offer entertainment or convenience, have now become true windows into our private lives. Spotify, an application normally associated with music, turned out to be the key to uncovering a betrayal.
