If there is something in common that Prince Harry shares with his uncle, Prince Andrew, it is knowing what it feels like to be excluded from your family. Although for completely different reasons, both dukes are a kind of black sheep within the British royal family and it has now emerged that they share a cruel nickname from the staff at Buckingham Palace.
During a broadcast of the radio show 'The Royals With Roya and Kate', royal expert and correspondent Kate Mansey revealed that both the Duke of York and the Duke of Sussex had received the same cruel nickname from palace staff.
What are the nicknames of Prince Harry and Prince Andrew within Buckingham Palace?
"I made a summary in the Times magazine at the end of last year and some people mentioned to me, in fact, that Andrés and Harry are known as the Dukes of Hazzard," Mansey told Express. "Given that the two dukes are a problem for the king (Charles III), but maybe more so Andrés," he added.
The name comes from the 80s TV series called “The Dukes of Hazzard,” which follows cousins Bo and Luke Duke and their adventures in ‘Hazzard County’.
Neither Prince Andrew nor Harry have been active members of the British royal family for several years, although for different reasons. On one hand, the youngest son of King Charles III made the decision to disassociate himself from the benefits and obligations as an elite member of the British royalty due to what he considered media harassment against his wife, Meghan Markle, and a constant threat to the integrity of his entire family, starting with their children Archie and the little Lilibet.
Andrew situation, however, is a completely different and much more serious case. After the ‘Pandora’s box’ of the Epstein case splashed onto Andrés, his ties with his family have only been in decline and since 2019, after his disastrous interview with Newsnight, the royal family has kept him at arm’s length.
