Kate Middleton shared on social media that she is in “remission” from cancer and focused on her full recovery. The 43-year-old Princess of Wales shared the news on Tuesday, January 14, the same day she carried out her first public engagement of 2025.
Princess Kate made a surprise visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, where it was revealed that she received her treatment there. Kate will join Prince William as a patron of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.
Kate Middleton’s Statement
“I wanted to take the opportunity to thank The Royal Marsden for taking such good care of me over the past year,” Princess Kate began in a message posted on X.
“My most sincere gratitude to all those who have walked in silence alongside William and me as we went through it all. We couldn’t have asked for more. The attention and guidance we have received throughout the time I have been a patient have been exceptional.”
The Princess of Wales added that, as a joint sponsor of the Royal Marsden, they will support “innovative research and clinical excellence, as well as promote the well-being of patients and families, so that we can save many more lives and transform the experience of all those affected by cancer.”
“It is a relief to now be in remission and I am still focused on recovery,” she continued. “As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis knows, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. However, I hope that next year will be fruitful. There is much to look forward to. Thank you all for your continued support.”
Princess of Wales cancer treatment
Princess Kate announced in March 2024 that she was undergoing cancer treatment and would be away for most of the year to focus on her health. In September of the same year, she reported that she had completed chemotherapy treatment.
During her visit to the British hospital, the princess said: “I really felt like I needed to soak up the sun. You need a lot of water and a lot of sunlight,” referring to the care needed.
