There are some moments of uncertainty as TikTok could be living its last days for users in the United States. The social network will be banned on January 19 in the country under a law that will come into effect that day if ByteDance, TikTok’s owner, does not agree to sell the platform. However, a possible ‘hero’ has appeared to save the day: MrBeast.

The famous YouTuber offered to be the one to purchase the platform to avoid its ban in the country. In addition to him, there were also reports claiming that Elon Musk, who already owns Twitter and renamed it X, would also be interested. However, even if the proposals were serious, it seems that neither of them would have real options to acquire the platform.

What did MrBeast say about TikTok?
The content creator took to their official account on X to write: "Okay, I will buy TikTok so they don’t ban it," sparking a frenzy on the social network.
US lawmakers have expressed concern about what the Chinese government could be doing with the data of its citizens who use the app. They suspect that ByteDance is providing confidential information of its users, arguing that there are laws in the Asian country that allow for the demand of this data for intelligence operations. Additionally, government officials fear that TikTok could use its services to misinform users.
On the other hand, James Stephen Donaldson, known worldwide as MrBeast, once again showed his altruistic side and commitment to making a social impact from his position and helped 2,000 people regain mobility by donating prostheses.
The YouTuber collaborated with the organization Exceed Worldwide to cover not only the cost of prostheses, which range from $5,000 to $50,000, but also related expenses such as transportation and medical care. This initiative benefited people from countries such as Cambodia, Guatemala, Kenya, Egypt, the Philippines, Uganda, Tanzania, Benin, Sri Lanka, and the United States.
