It was said that, due to the terrible harassment from the press, Lady Di’s firstborn and King Charles III decided that the best thing for his then-girlfriend would be to not put her in the spotlight of the paparazzi.

Prince William and Kate Middleton met in 2001 at the University of St. Andrews and, according to some sources, despite keeping their relationship secret, the entire student community knew about it.

Prince William and Kate Middleton were secretly dating for eight years

Prince William revealed that he and Kate Middleton started living together with other university friends shortly after meeting, and as there was always a mutual interest, they studied and spent a lot of time together.

“We moved in together as friends. We also lived with a couple more people and from there, everything started to blossom. We saw each other more, went out a bit more, and did things,” said Prince William in an interview in 2010.

Carly Massy-Birch, an ex-girlfriend of Prince William, was the one who publicly exposed their relationship among their university peers in 2002, while playing “Never Have I Ever”: “I have never dated two people in this room.”

King Charles III’s eldest son was upset with his ex-girlfriend, but he could no longer hide his relationship with Kate Middleton, so he admitted it, although they never made it official until announcing their engagement eight years later. However, the press already suspected it.

Prince William and Kate Middleton got married in 2011 and currently have three children: George Alexander, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, and Louis Arthur Charles.
