Kim Kardashian is facing a wave of criticism after her clothing brand, Skims, posted promotional content on social media while Los Angeles deals with devastating fires that have forced over 30,000 people to evacuate their homes.

On Tuesday night, when the fires started in Palisades, Skims shared posts announcing their winter sale. "WINTER SALE STARTS TOMORROW," read a post on Instagram, which sparked outrage in the comments. Users described the posts as "disconnected" and asked that Kardashian and her brand share resources to help those affected.

Kim Kardashian has kept up with her promotional posts for Skims.
"A follower commented, 'How about posting something about the fires and how to help?' Another added, 'All you care about is money. Kim, you could do more for the people who are losing everything.' The controversy continued the next day, when the brand posted more images promoting discounts on their Soft Lounge collection. Criticisms flooded social media once again, labeling the timing of the posts as insensitive."
However, some defended Kardashian. "She is also going through a difficult time. Have empathy," commented a fan. Another pointed out that "Kim is working, like everyone else, during this tragedy." Although it is not clear if Kardashian personally approved the posts, a representative from Skims did not immediately respond to requests for comments. Meanwhile, it was reported that her family donated meals to the firefighters battling the fires, showing support to those affected.
Kardashian, who lives in a $60 million mansion that has so far been spared from the fires, is no stranger to charity. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Skims donated $1 million to families in need. The situation with the fires, described as the most destructive in Los Angeles history, has affected numerous celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Leighton Meester, and Anna Faris, who lost their homes.
