Days ago, NBC News reported that Casey Colvin lost his home in the Los Angeles wildfires and also his dog Oreo. Fortunately, the man found his pet safe and sound.
Oreo, who had been missing for five nights, reappeared on January 12th after getting lost following the evacuation of Pacific Palisades. The emotional video of their reunion captivated social media.
He lost everything, but not the most important thing.
Colvin had used a dog tracker to find Oreo, who was sleeping on top of the rubble on his neighbor's property.
Liz Kreutz, a reporter for NBC News, recorded the beautiful moment when the owner and Oreo embraced. Colvin was with his other pet when Oreo ran towards his owner.
""You're alive, you're alive," Colvin shouted before crossing the street running. "Thank you, Jesus, thank you, God," he continued saying."
This is how Oreo and Tika got lost
After the excitement, Colvin turned to hug reporter Liz Kreutz and thanked her for recording the moment. Kreutz reported that Oreo had disappeared last Tuesday, January 7th, when the puppy escaped from the fires.
When the evacuation alert was issued, Colvin was working and went out to try to save her dogs: "I literally rescued them from the street. They deserve better than that. How do I get to my house?"
Later, one of the firefighters in the area rescued his dog Tika, but Oreo ran away. Now the three of them are together.
“OREO WAS FOUND!!! Casey called me right after my last post and told me that someone was keeping an eye on Oreo. We ran to his street, where Oreo was hiding in the neighbor’s house. The moment he saw Casey, he came running. An incredible moment and a glimmer of light in such a devastating time ❤️”, wrote the reporter who captured the moment on Instagram.
