The following images taken by a drone can be confused with a war zone. In the clip, the city of Los Angeles is seen charred due to the strong wildfires that have been raging since January 7th.
In the video, you can see completely abandoned neighborhoods, collapsed structures, coal, dark dust, and smoke in every corner. The natural disaster has so far claimed at least 10 lives and more than 130,000 people are under evacuation orders.
Images filled with sadness flood social media.
The burnt blocks show the luxurious neighborhood of Pacific Palisades turned to ashes. Although the dense smoke-filled air does not allow for details to be appreciated, the frames of the mansions stripped bare and piles of rubble can be seen.
As the seconds pass, the drone captures that the columns of smoke change from gray to orange (due to the fire that is still ongoing).
Meteorological authorities reported that strong winds could worsen the situation. In fact, on Thursday, there were three wildfires that could not be contained and had already burned nearly 30,000 acres in Los Angeles County.
The strong wind gusts exceed 160 kilometers per hour in Santa Ana and cause the fire to reach areas where it was not expected to reach. Authorities reported that at least five people have died and thousands of structures have been destroyed.
Californians must evacuate
Around 130,000 Californians have evacuation orders as fires rage from Palisades in west Los Angeles, to the Eaton fire in north Pasadena, and the Sunset fire in Hollywood Hills.
Governor Gavin Newsom reported that around 360,000 people were left without electricity on Thursday morning and that he deployed over 600 National Guard members in the region.
