The actress and model Brooke Shields has revealed a shocking episode from her life in her upcoming memoir “Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman”, which will be released in January 2025. In the book, Shields recounts how, decades ago, she underwent a medical procedure without her consent.

Although the procedure was considered cosmetic and was not covered by medical insurance, Shields decided to undergo the surgery. However, after the operation, the actress received surprising news during a postoperative check-up. The plastic surgeon who performed the procedure informed her that he had added a "bonus" without consulting her.

It was a vaginal rejuvenation procedure. This surgery, designed to improve the elasticity and firmness of vaginal tissues, was performed without her prior consent. "It felt like an invasion, a kind of medical violation," Shields stated in a recent interview. The actress also mentioned that the doctor's attitude, who seemed proud of what he had done, caused her even more outrage.

"There was no need for that area to be tighter, younger, or firmer," she commented. Although Shields did not take legal action at the time, she decided to include this experience in her memoir with the goal of raising awareness about the importance of medical consent, especially in matters related to women's health."

The actress stated, "I didn't want to talk about this, but I feel that we must address uncomfortable issues for things to change. Shame is no longer an option." This is not the first time Shields has shared difficult episodes from her life. In her 2023 documentary "Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields," the actress revealed that she was a victim of sexual abuse in her 20s, an event she kept secret for decades.
