Although Donald Trump assumes his role as the new president of the United States, he is already making important decisions. Since winning the election, the Republican has mentioned several times the option of making Canada the 51st state, and to this, he has added the intention of taking control of Greenland, the world’s largest island, which is part of Denmark.

But this Tuesday raised the tone by not ruling out the use of military force to regain control of the Panama Canal, which the United States ceded to that country 25 years ago, and even expressed its intention to rename the Gulf of Mexico as “Gulf of the América.”

This is what Canada thinks of Donald Trump's intention
Elizabeth May, member of the House of Commons of Canada, offered a kind of “deal” to Trump: “Ey, Donald. We got a deal for you. You think we want to be the 51st state? Nah. Maybe California would like to be the 11th province”.
May called on the states of California, Oregon, or Washington to join Canada and urged their governors to hold a referendum so that the citizens can vote on the decision. “This is our deal, this is what you can get: Free health care, Universal free healthcare. And those gun laws that your Congress is afraid to pass? We already have strict gun legislation,” added May.
Trump wants Canada and the Panama Canal
According to Fox News, Trump mentioned to Justin Trudeau, the resigned former prime minister of Canada, the option for the northern country to become the 51st state of the United States, in light of the intention to impose 25% tariffs on Canadian imports.
Regarding the Panama Canal, Trump said that "it is vital for our country. It is being operated by China. We handed it over to Panama, not to China, and they have abused that gift. That decision should never have been made."
While, about the Gulf of Mexico, he stated: “We’re going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, which has a beautiful ring. That covers a lot of territory. The Gulf of America, what a beautiful name. And it’s appropriate.”
Just on the day the president-elect made these statements, his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., made a quick visit to Greenland.
