The fires that have broken out in Los Angeles have forced many to evacuate, including celebrities such as James Woods, Mark Hamill, and J.J. Redick, coach of the Lakers.
Since the spring of 2024, an unrelenting drought has been hitting Southern California, increasing the danger of fires that, unfortunately, are a sadly common occurrence in the region. In the last few hours, the Pacific Palisades neighborhood is in a complex situation that has forced the evacuation of several people and has firefighters against the ropes as they try to save the homes and wildlife in the area.
Which celebrities are affected by the fire in Los Angeles?
Los Ángeles is famous for being home to multiple Hollywood stars, which has resulted in many of these celebrities being severely affected. Actors such as Mark Hamill, Mandy Moore, and Eugene Levy have left their homes to escape the advancing flames, while the Fire Department and volunteer teams remain overwhelmed.
"7:00 p.m. We evacuated Malibu," wrote Hamill in a post on his Instagram account. "There were small fires on both sides of the road as we approached PCH (Pacific Coast Highway)," added the legendary Star Wars actor.
According to the report, Hamill, his wife Marilou York, and their dog Trixie arrived at their daughter Chelsea's house in Hollywood at 8:15 am. "The worst fire since 1993," noted the actor, in a brief statement where he also advocated for everyone to stay safe.
Although not all neighbors in the area have been forced to evacuate, stars like Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) or Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) are watching the evolution of the crisis with concern, with dread about "what is happening in their backyards," as reported by Deadline.
The Lakers' coach, J.J. Redick, on his part, said that his family was evacuated from their home in Pacific Palisades on Tuesday and offered his thoughts and prayers to all those affected by the fires in the Los Angeles area.
"I want to thank and send my thoughts and prayers to everyone in Palisades," said Redick before the Lakers' defeat to the Dallas Mavericks. "This is where I live. My family, my wife's family, my wife's twin. They evacuated. I know that a lot of people are freaking out right now, including my family. And from the sound of things coming with the wind tonight, I know a lot of people are scared. Thoughts and prayers, and I hope everyone is safe."
James Woods, through the security cameras of his mansion, showed the progress and imminent threat of this fire in recent days.
