The family of the renowned Cuban actor, Héctor Travieso, revealed on Tuesday through a written statement that the cause of his death was a heart attack. He was 73 years old.
"Yesterday, January 6th, Papi, who for you was and will be Héctor Travieso, passed away due to a heart attack," reads a press release signed by his children: Manolo, Laura, and Héctor.
They also took the opportunity to thank "Lola" (Isabelita), Travieso's wife, for staying by his side at all times; and the public for the "solidarity" and "support" they have received during the process.
"We kindly ask for space to be able to work through this as a family with privacy. Later on, we will be able to have a conversation and provide more specific statements," they pointed out.
The news of the death of the actor and host was confirmed through the official website of the TV show "La Comay" on TeleOnce. Travieso was the host of this show for many years when it was broadcast on Wapa Televisión under the name "SúperXclusivo".
"Sadly, our dear friend, coworker, and life companion Héctor Travieso passed away today. We join in the sorrow of his family and wish them strength. May our dear Héctor Travieso Rest in Peace. Tomorrow we will have details of his passing," reads the post on the Facebook and Instagram page of "La Comay."
Similarly, journalist Sylvia Hernández, who worked alongside Travieso on SuperXClusivo, made a post in solidarity with his family following the unfortunate event.
"I join in prayer and sorrow at the departure of a great work colleague, Héctor Travieso. I will never forget nor cease to be grateful for his jokes, respect, affection, and advice that helped me navigate challenging moments in my career. My embrace and solidarity with Isabelita and their children. Rest in Peace #hectortravieso," Hernández wrote on his social media.
Despite being known for his work on the entertainment program hosted by Kobbo Santarrosa, Travieso, was part of multiple acting projects both locally and in the United States. The Cuban actor was part of "El Show de Raymond" on Wapa TV in the early 2000s and participated in films such as "La Guagua Aérea" and the American movie "Under Suspicion."
During the return of La Comay to Mega TV in 2019, Travieso was part of the project for a few months. However, he left in March for personal reasons.
Subsequently, the hosts Roque Gallart and Yan Ruiz have been the ones who have accompanied the character of “La Comay” in its various phases both on Mega TV and currently on TeleOnce.
