Carol Acosta, known on social media as Killadamente, passed away at the age of 27, as confirmed by her family. Through a message on Instagram, Khatyan Acosta shared a story with her 137 thousand followers thanking them for their condolences while she couldn’t hold back her tears: “I want to thank you very much for being there and for your support. Thank you for supporting my sister when she was alive as well.”
The family of the Dominican content creator who has passed away has started a campaign on Go Fund Me with the goal of raising money to cover the expenses of her funeral.
"Despite her youth, Carolar had a significant impact by helping thousands of people with her work. On this occasion, we come together to ask for your support in giving her the farewell she deserves. If you are able, we appreciate any contribution, not matter how small, to help with the funeral expenses and to support her family and children in coping with this profound loss and the void that Carolar has left in our hearts," read the family's message.
So far, of the USD 15,000 they are trying to raise on Go Fund Me, they have collected USD 11,000.
What happened to Killadamente?
According to the Daily Mail, Carol Acosta experienced an unfortunate accident at a restaurant in New York on Saturday, January 4th. During dinner, she choked and apparently suffered a cardiac arrest while sharing a meal with her family.
According to a statement from a cousin to the mentioned media, the reasons for his death are pending verification through an autopsy.
"I am aware that everyone wants to know what happened, however, we still do not have clarity and we are waiting for the results of the autopsy," mentioned his cousin.
"The only thing I know is that she was having dinner as usual and started choking and having trouble breathing. She had some kind of attack, was taken to the hospital, but they couldn't save her," added.
Acosta stood out for spreading content that promoted body acceptance and for conveying inspiring messages in opposition to body image stereotypes.
She had publicly shared that during her childhood she was a victim of bullying at school because of her weight.
The internet viral star released a song in 2017 called 'I Love Myself and I Don't Care'.
