"Asma is dying," said an anonymous source. It is known that Asma is being cared for by her father, cardiologist Fawaz Akhras, who is "heartbroken."
“She is so sick that she can't be in the same room with almost anyone else... She has been 50/50 in the past few weeks,” said the source.
Bashar Assad's wife, her history of cancer, and the divorce
It is not the first time that Bashar Assad's wife, who is originally from London, faces a cancer diagnosis. The current report reflects a relapse.
In 2019, Syrian authorities announced that she was diagnosed with breast cancer, which disappeared after a year of treatment.
Last May, the government announced that she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, a type of cancer that affects the bone marrow and blood. Telegraph reported that she went into remission, but it reappeared. Before receiving treatment in Moscow, she was in the United Arab Emirates. Throughout this time, she has been accompanied by her father.
"When leukemia returns, it is vicious," said an informant.
According to The Post, it is believed that she traveled to Moscow before her husband left Syria due to his overthrow. There are rumors that while in the Russian capital, she asked Bashar Assad for a divorce. Allegedly, she is tired of the restrictions in Russia and wants to pursue better treatment.
So far, there is no official statement regarding the health status of Bashar Assad’s wife, nor about her divorce request.
