Only the AfD can save Germany,” Musk posted on X this Friday, referring to a video published by the influential German Naomi Seibt, criticizing Friedrich Merz (who is leading the polls) for rejecting a proposal from a rival to seek ideas from Musk and Argentine President Javier Milei to reform Germany. Merz has ruled out forming alliances with the AfD.

The New York Times reports that in 10 hours, Elon Musk's post about his support for the far-right had over 25 million views. The mentioned media outlet highlights that this occurs "as Germany begins what promises to be an aggressive election campaign."

Reactions in Germany to Elon Musk's support for the far-right.

Elon Musk's position on his support for the right has sparked opinions in Germany, mainly because his figure is no longer focused solely on business, but also on politics due to his proximity to Donald Trump.

Clarín reported that the statement of the billionaire magnate was rejected by the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who stated that "freedom of speech also exists for billionaires and that means they can say wrong things. Suffice it to say that all democratic parties in Germany have a different opinion".

The chancellor added that "his political judgment is not equivalent to his business success."

Alice Weidel, co-president of AfD, reacted to Musk's words by writing "you are absolutely right".

Christiane Hoffmann, government spokesperson in Germany, mentioned in a press conference that "this is not the first time Elon Musk comments on German politics in X. We do not take it into account, we do not pass judgment".

Although Hoffmann chose not to comment on Musk’s words, he said that the German government is “concerned about the development of the X platform and what is happening on it.”
