Christmas is approaching and many people do not want to give the typical things you find in a store, although there are also others who do not have enough time or money to buy gifts, so they prefer to make them at home.

Box of homemade Christmas cookies

The first thing is to have a good recipe for Christmas cookies or ones that turn out great, and you can get a cardboard box, or make one, and then decorate it to your liking.

Wait for the cookies to cool before placing them in their box, which should already be decorated. You could also use glass jars that you are not using and decorate them with a ribbon.

Homemade candles with your favorite scents

Making homemade candles is easier than many people think. You will only need: leftover candle pieces, your favorite essential oils or the ones of the person you want to please, a wick, a saucepan, pretty glass jars, and a wooden stick.

To make them, you will need to start by poking the old candles you have left over with a punch to create small flakes, or you can grate them, just be careful with the wick.

Then, melt the wax in a saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally. Add a few drops of essential oil and mix well. To assemble, first place a drop of wax at the bottom of the glass jar and place the wick on top, so it stays attached.

Use a stick to roll up and hold the wick. Carefully pour the melted wax and let it sit until it solidifies, which can take about an hour. Cut the wick to fit the size of your candle and you can decorate it with a bow, place the candles in a gift box, or wrap them in cellophane paper.

Handmade soaps

These are easy to make with ingredients you likely already have at home. You will only need:

  • 200 grams of glycerin soap
  • 2 tablespoons of orange zest
  • Slices of dried orange
  • 10 drops of orange essential oil (optional)
  • A kitchen grater

To do this, chop or grate the glycerin soaps, put them in a saucepan, and melt them in a double boiler. Once melted, remove the saucepan from the heat and add the other ingredients, stirring slowly.

Pour the mixture into soap molds or into the silicone molds you have at home. Add the orange slices inside and let them cool to room temperature.

You can wrap these handmade soaps with tissue paper, cellophane, or burlap fabric with a sprig of lavender tied with twine.
