The storm left the roads in Michigan slippery and caused a truck to crash into several emergency vehicles in the Great Lakes area.
NY Post reported that the "accident occurred along Michigan's Interstate 94 on Thursday around 8:30 a.m. in Comstock Township, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office."
Major collision in Michigan caused by winter storm
During the major crash, the sheriff's office rescuers and the Comstock Fire and Rescue Department were attending to another collision that occurred in the eastbound lanes when a 24-foot truck lost control.
The box truck tipped over and crashed into some Comstock Fire vehicles and a Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office patrol car before overturning, local authorities reported.
Police officers were not injured in the Michigan collision.
Luckily, no member of the emergency personnel was injured. However, the truck driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to the nearest hospital.
"We urge everyone to avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary during the severe winter weather," said Kalamazoo County Sheriff Rick Fuller. "If you must travel, take extra precautions, reduce speed, and allow additional time to reach your destination. Your safety (and the safety of emergency personnel) depends on it."
The National Weather Service reported that around 5 inches of snow had fallen in Comstock around 8 am.
Shocking crash VIDEO
"The dashboard camera video released by the sheriff's office shows how the semi-truck crashes into the patrol car, collides with a fire truck, and then overturns. First responders can be seen fleeing from the fire truck moments after the crash," describes WFLA on their website.
