The New York Police and the FBI offered a reward of $60,000 to anyone who provided information to locate Luigi Mangione after the murder of Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare. The call from a McDonald’s employee allowed the location of the suspect, but now, the worker may not receive the long-awaited reward.

The police commissions were activated and immediately went to the scene, where they captured Mangione. They seized a weapon, whose casings match those found at the crime scene, as well as other items. After the arrest, he was charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, forgery, and providing false identification to the police, in addition to being charged with murder.
Luigi Mangione and uncertain reward after reporting it
The New York Post reported that despite authorities offering a significant sum of money, it is not certain that the McDonald's employee will receive his reward, as there are several conditions.
One of the conditions for the informant to receive the promised reward is that they must be presented by a research agency. In addition, they must go through a process with "a lot of bureaucracy" to claim the money, and on top of that, rewards are only given if there is a conviction following the arrest.
Luigi Mangione remains incarcerated in a rural prison in Pennsylvania, but he could be extradited to New York, something that his wealthy family is trying to avoid.
His lawyer Thomas Dickey requested bail, while Mangione maintains his plea of innocence.
