The successful movie Wolfs, starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, will not have a sequel, despite being the most-watched production on Apple TV+. The news was revealed by the director himself, Jon Watts, who explained the reasons behind this unexpected decision.
Wolfs tells the story of Clooney, who plays a professional fixer hired to cover up a high-profile crime. However, things get complicated when a second fixer (Pitt) enters the scene. The two "lone wolves" are forced to work together, and what seemed like a simple operation spirals out of control in unpredictable ways.
The director of Wolfs refused to continue with the sequel: Why?
The cast also includes Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, Poorna Jagannathan, Richard Kind, and Zlatko Burić. The film was produced in partnership with Clooney's Smokehouse Pictures and Pitt's Plan B Entertainment.
Despite the resounding success of the movie, Jon Watts revealed that Apple TV+ had ordered a sequel after he showed the final version of "Wolfs" earlier this year, as reported by DEADLINE.
However, the situation took an unexpected turn when Apple changed its last-minute plan to release the film in theaters to launch it directly on streaming. According to Watts, this change was a complete surprise, as it was done without any prior explanation or discussion.
The director, upset by the lack of communication, decided not to move forward with the sequel and returned the money that had been granted to develop it. In his own words, "Apple didn't cancel the sequel to Wolfs, I did, because I no longer trusted them as a creative partner."
This surprising twist puts an end to the speculation about a sequel to Wolfs, leaving fans uncertain about what could have been a continuation of this successful collaboration between Clooney, Pitt, and Watts.
