The victory of Donald Trump in the presidential elections of the United States perhaps did not sit well with Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, so sources do not rule out the possibility that the couple may consider leaving this country if things become uncomfortable for them.
The Mirror reported that royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK! (formerly BBC) that living in the United States may not be as appealing for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. According to her, it is likely that the son of King Charles III and Meghan are waiting to see how things unfold after the elections, and depending on that, they will make a decision on whether to leave American soil.
The dukes settled in Montecito, California, an area that has always been characterized by being democratic. Their life in this area has passed with total normality, enjoying the comforts that a couple like them can have.
"Harry and Meghan have behaved very well on all fronts recently without public criticism of the Royal Family and no open political statements before the United States elections. However, it is obvious that neither of them will be pleased to see Trump in the White House... It could be uncomfortable for them to live in a country where the president has made some quite biting comments about both," said Bond.
Trump with his opinion on Prince Harry and Meghan
It is well known that Donald Trump has questioned the legality of Prince Harry's visa due to the prince's own admission in his memoirs that he used drugs. The former president-elect also went on to express that Joe Biden has been "too kind" to Harry and Meghan since they moved to the United States in 2020. Additionally, he accused Harry of betraying Queen Elizabeth II, which he deemed "unforgivable."
"Trump often says one thing and does the opposite... I understand that Trump himself is in dispute with the Heritage Foundation because he forced the release of immigration records about (his wife's late mother) Melania. So he is not a fan of the organization and may not be willing to help her pursue her accusations about Harry's visa. So that issue may have disappeared," Bond explained.
Despite everything, Eric Trump, son of the president-elect, had already hinted that the stay of the dukes was not something important for the country, which makes many consider that perhaps it is not something that his father evaluates.
"If things get tough or uncomfortable in the United States, Europe may see a bit more of Harry and Meghan and their children. My assumption, however, is that they will let the dust settle and see how things work out - they seem very happy in their Californian lifestyle and I am sure they do not want to unnecessarily upset their children," stated the royal correspondent.
Harry and Meghan bought a house in Portugal, so it is not ruled out that this residence is an escape and probably, a consideration for them to move to Europe.
