"I am currently being attacked," Tony expressed during the show he performed in Texas.
"I just want to say that I love Puerto Ricans, they are very intelligent people, they are smart, they are street smart, they are smart enough to know when they are being used as political fodder," he said.
In the same way, he refused to apologize. "I absolutely do not apologize to anyone," he said. "Not to Puerto Ricans, not to whites, not to blacks, not to Palestinians, not to Jews, not even to my own mother, whom I mocked during the presentation," he added.
What were Hinchcliffe's racist statements?
Hinchcliffe described Puerto Rico as a "floating island of garbage" at Trump's rally.
"I don't know if you are aware that there is literally an island of garbage in the middle of the ocean. It seems to be called Puerto Rico," said the second-rate comedian who achieved his "15 minutes of fame" thanks to these comments.
The Madison Square Garden was packed, with almost 20 thousand Trump supporters. There, the comedian also made insulting jokes about Latinos. "These Latinos love to have babies, there's no way to get rid of them..." and then followed it up with a tasteless sexual "joke."
The comments were repudiated by various political figures both locally and in the United States, and Trump tried to distance himself, saying that he did not know the "comedian."
On the other hand, Kamala Harris' campaign tried to highlight these phrases to expose Trump's candidacy, but it seems they did not diminish the support of Latinos, especially men, who voted in greater numbers for the Republican and were key in his victory on November 5th.
