John Ratcliffe, the new CIA director appointed by Trump

He was a congressman from Texas and has also served as the Director of National Intelligence.

John Ratcliffe was designated by President-elect Donald Trump as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). In this way, his name was added on Tuesday to the cabinet of the Executive proposed by the Republican, who will govern the future of the nation for the period 2025-2029.

"From exposing the false Russian collusion to being a Clinton campaign operation, to uncovering the FBI's abuse of Civil Liberties in the FISA Court, John Ratcliffe has always been a warrior for Truth and Honesty with the American public," Trump said in a statement.

He added that "when 51 intelligence officials lied about Hunter Biden's laptop, there was one, John Ratcliffe, who told the truth to the American people."

John Ratcliffe and his radical position

John Ratcliffe is 59 years old. He was a congressman from Texas and has also served as the Director of National Intelligence.

The New York Post indicated that he represented the suburbs of Dallas for over five years before Trump called him to oversee the 17 intelligence agencies of the United States in May 2020.

Trump wanted to appoint him as his Director of National Intelligence in 2019, but he withdrew his nomination upon realizing he did not have the approval of Senate Republicans, who considered him lacking in experience and too partisan. The following year, Trump nominated him again for the DNI position.

"As National Intelligence Director, Ratcliffe shot down the unfounded accusations that The Post's bombshell report on Hunter Biden's infamous laptop was Russian propaganda," The Post says about John Ratcliffe.

The official told Fox Business Network that "Hunter Biden's laptop is not part of a Russian disinformation campaign." Previously, The Post first reported on the extensive foreign business dealings of the Biden family.

"Let me be clear: The intelligence community does not believe that because there is no intelligence to support it," he stated.

Ratcliffe’s stance has always been tough on China. He even accused the Chinese Communist Party of being involved in “a massive cover-up” of the origins of COVID-19 and pushed to hold China accountable for the pandemic.
