How will Prince William carry out his reign when ascends to the throne? “I will try to do it differently”

His trip to South Africa sparked a debate on social media for wearing white sneakers and an open-collared shirt.

Prince William recently confessed how he wants to approach his official duties with “a lowercase r in royalty,” only if he ascends to the throne. The eldest son of King Charles III and the late Princess Diana provided some insights into what his reign would look like to evolve.

"I can only describe what I am trying to do, which is to try to do it differently and do it for my generation," said 42-year-old William to Sky News.

The prince just wants to "help people."

When explaining what that means to him, he said, "It's more about impactful philanthropy, collaboration, outreach, and helping people."

"And I'm also going to include empathy, because I really care about what I do. It helps to influence people's lives. And I think we could use more empathetic leadership worldwide."

In response to the words of the Prince of Wales, Daisy McAndrew, royal commentator, said: "He will be very aware of how dangerous it is for the royal family to be seen as disconnected or distant, hence the emphasis on empathy and emotional intelligence."

Although British tabloids offered positive coverage: The Mirror described William's comments as a "huge real change" and The Sun wrote: "EMPATHETIC MONARCHY."

However, not all comments were positive.

"Incredibly lazy man"

Graham Smith, executive director of the anti-monarchy campaign group Republic, told NBC News: "To be honest, his 'r' couldn't be any smaller. It barely does anything. He's an incredibly lazy man who manages to have very few engagements to make it seem like he's busy."

"What Harry has done is demonstrate that members of the royalty can do the right thing on their own. They can finance their own lifestyle and garner the support of celebrities and do it well," Smith added.

"Therefore, I believe that the question of why his brother feels the need to retain the titles, status, and public money is something that is highlighted with Harry's departure," he added.

Recently, he sparked a debate on social media during his trip to South Africa when he wore white sneakers and an open-neck shirt.
