Gregg Popovich, the coach of the San Antonio Spurs, has been away from the sidelines because he suffered a minor stroke earlier this month, the team reported on Wednesday.
The Basketball Hall of Famer is in his 29th season as coach of the Spurs. There is no set schedule for his return to the bench, the team said. The incident occurred on November 2 at the team's arena, and Popovich is expected to make a full recovery.
Popovich, 75, has already started a rehabilitation program, according to the Spurs.
"During this time, the organization is grateful to the extended community for providing privacy and space to the Popovich family," the Spurs said in a statement.
Popovich is the all-time leader in victories in the NBA and has led the Spurs to five league championships.
The assistant Mitch Johnson has been the interim coach in Popovich’s absence.
