The billionaire magnate Elon Musk joined the phone call that Donald Trump made as the President-elect of the United States with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
This was reported by the New York Post based on Axios reports that revealed Zelensky wanted to talk to Trump about the relationship between the United States and Ukraine ahead of his new term, which begins on January 20, 2025.
The conversation took place last Wednesday, and according to officials who were aware of the call, Zelensky was surprised to learn that Musk was also online with Trump.
“We agreed to maintain close dialogue and advance our cooperation. The strong and unwavering leadership of the United States is vital for the world and for a just peace,” wrote the Ukrainian president on social media X, who also congratulated the newly elected president of the United States.
Zelensky also described his call with Trump as "excellent," highlighting it as a "historic victory."
"For us in Ukraine, and throughout Europe, it has always been crucial to hear the words of the then 45th President of the United States about 'peace through strength.' When this principle becomes the policy of the 47th president, both the United States and the whole world will undoubtedly benefit," said Zelensky in a post by X.
The position of the president of Ukraine suggests that he saw his conversation with Donald Trump as positive.
Elon Musk in Donald Trump's cabinet
As the richest man in the world, Elon Musk was one of the main financiers of Donald Trump's presidential campaign. It has been said that he could hold a position in the Republican government's cabinet, however, nothing official has been announced so far, and it is also unknown what position he could occupy.
The owner of X and Tesla proposed creating a Department of Government Efficiency. Although he has been mentioned as a possible member of the new government’s cabinet, Trump hinted that it probably won’t happen by stating that “Musk doesn’t want to become secretary of something. I mean, I would love to have him, to be honest with you... but he’s doing a couple of other things.”
