Hispanic men were essential to Donald Trump’s victory

The Republican secured 54% of the votes in this group, a significant jump compared to 2020.

Donald Trump Donald Trump experienced a significant increase in support among Latino voters in the recent elections, according to exit polls.

This surge was mainly among Latino men, who gave the Republican candidate an 18-point boost compared to his performance in 2020, when he lost the race to Joe Biden.

Trump’s Momentum Among Latino Voters

Trump’s substantial growth occurred despite a controversy involving a low-profile comedian who, during a Republican campaign event at Madison Square Garden, referred to Puerto Rico as a “trash island.”

“Latino support for Trump was especially strong among men, where Trump increased by 18 percentage points, reaching a majority of 54 percent of the total votes. Kamala Harris attracted 44 percent of the votes in this group, according to the survey,” reported The Telegraph.

Meanwhile, Harris saw a 15-point drop among Latino male voters compared to Biden’s results in 2020.

This trend was confirmed in states like Arizona and Nevada, both with large Latino populations and considered key in these elections. Trump holds a considerable lead over Harris in the vote count there, which is likely to increase the Republican candidate’s share of electors. In 2020, both Arizona and Nevada went to Biden.

More than 36 million Latinos, out of the 65 million living in the United States, were eligible to participate in this presidential election.

Harris was unable to capitalize on the support she received from major Latino figures like Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, and Bad Bunny.

Trump, on the other hand, gained support from Nicky Jam, whom he mistakenly introduced as a woman during a campaign event. However, the singer withdrew his support after the incident involving racially offensive comments about Puerto Rico at Madison Square Garden.
